A dark day in Urumqi

The Yang Hang mosque of the Tian Sian district of Urumqi, China.

On July 7th, as we in Britain remember the suffering inflicted upon us, irrespective of our faiths, by terrorists, news of troubles in the Xianjiang province of China leading to the greatest number of deaths since Tienanmen square, makes it a dark day for inter-ethnic harmony.

The Han and Uigher communities are suffering a tit-for-tat, the result of which has already led to suffering and injustice. May we be blessed with the wisdom to value our differences instead of using them to motivate injustice and unfairness, amen!
