Ablution: washing away the sins

Ablution at Faisal mosque, Islamabad, Pakistan.

(Minor) Ablution is the washing of the face, hands, arms and feet - taking a person into a state of ritual purity before they commence one of the prescribed 5 time daily prayers. It is said that for every part of the body that is washed, sins associated to that part of the body are 'washed away' by the Grace of God e.g. if a man looks at something he shouldn't, when washing his face that 'sin' is forgiven.

From the partition of India, Pakistan went from a country intending to demonstrate the beauty of Islam to becoming the second most corrupt country in the world. The absolute vast majority of people are simple, friendly and hospitable. It is this minority terrorist extremists who have post 9/11 brought about a wave of suicide attacks to the nation attacking any and every political leader irrespective of whether they are perceived as pro democracy e.g. Benazir Bhutto or perceived as a dictator e.g. Musharaf. The country needs to rid itself of such foolish misguided people who neither represent the country nor the teachings of Islam.

May God Almighty forgive us for our sins our errors and our deliberate wrongs, and may Allah Almighty grant us all peace, happiness, freedom from those who abuse religion and trust, granting us all success in this life and the next, amen.
