not feeling very inspired to pick up the camera lately. I started a new semester of art school and my mind is on painting. I'm taking eight weeks of acrylic painting and four more weeks of art history. Then I'll be finished with all the art history and painting requirements and will need only four more units of electives to complete the certificate. I'll probably be finished by early next year.
Progress on the house is slow. There is so much to be sorted, so much to be thrown away. I make weekly trips to the thrift store with bags of donations but you can barely see a dent. Everywhere I look there are piles of unfinished projects, piles of stuff to be dealt with. Every room in this house feels like failure, a reminder of things undone. Why do we have so much stuff?
I had to get away for awhile so we went up to Palm Desert this past weekend. I love the desert in the summertime. It's so quiet. The roads are clear and you can get from one point to another easily. Our neighbors have either left or hunkered down in their air-conditioning. You can go skinny-dipping at night. Last night I floated in the pool and looked up at the stars. It was really easy to find Antares, Arcturus, and what I think must have been Jupiter. It was some big-ass planet in the south, that's all I know.
p.s. see Caveman's photo of what an earthquake feels like.
