Digital Orca by Douglas Coupland at Vancouver Convention Centre
Came back to Vancouver Convention Centre to take some shots of the Digital Orca from angles similar to Uncle Buddha and s.yume. Can't replicate their amazing photos, though.
This was already my new favourite sculpture in Vancouver and then I learned that the artist is local chronicler Douglas Coupland, author of Generation X, Microserfs, City of Glass and on and on. That makes it just about a perfect emblem of this city.
Also represents the recent spate of marine wildlife around Vancouver: a grey whale in False Creek and Howe Sound and a dolphin pod numbering 150 to 200 in Howe Sound.
This photo is featured on the Pan Pacific Vancouver blog, Room with a View, as one of the best photos in May:
And sculptor Douglas Coupland just tweeted a link to all the Relevant Photos of his piece.
The man sure does love his Lego!
