2013: Namibia, UNCCD COP 11
The eleventh session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), in Windhoek, Namibia, 16-27 September 2013.

The UNCCD recognises that it is vital to engage the international business community in working together to combat Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought (DLDD). Towards this UNCCD invited private sector organisations to support the Sustainable Land Management Business Forum (SLM Business Forum), which aims at involving the private sector in providing real solutions to addressing land degradation. The participation of Supras Ltd. (Norway) was made possible - as well as organized - by Responding to Climate Change (www.rtcc.org) and its parent company Entico Corporation Ltd. (www.entico.com). Supras Ltd. (Norway) is a proud sponsor of the 2nd SLM Business Forum that met at COP11.

At the SLM Business Forum I presented a technical paper, "The Private Sector in Development Cooperation: Land Management, Climate Change and Social Development" (Supras Briefing Notes, no. 5, Sept. 2013), available at www.supras.biz.

I was also interviewed on Climate Change TV (a sister organization of RTCC). Interview title: "Lars Soeftestad: A social science response to land degradation". The interview is available at: Climate Change TV (climatechange-tv.rtcc.org/), Vimeo (www.vimeo.com/supras), UNCCD (www.unccd.int), RTCC (www.rtcc.org), and YouTube (www.youtube.com).

Note: Supras Ltd. sponsored the Third UNCCD Photo Contest (the awarded photos are presented).
