(2) Meeting with ANSAB. Supras Consult and Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources (ANSAB) (www.ansab.org) met for discussion on areas of future collaboration. Representatives of the two firms determined that there were areas of overlap, together with ways of thinking and approaches, that make it natural to work on achieving joint work. The two firms have clear comparative advantages in collaboration, basically a marrying of social sciences and natural sciences.
(1) The Norwegian Association for Adult Learning (NAAL, www.vofo.no) received seed funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad, www.norad.no) to prepare an application for a development project. In the period 18-26 April 2009 William Evans (NAAL) and Lars Soeftestad (Supras Consult) traveled to Nepal to meet with the local partner READ Nepal. The team, accompanied by READ Nepal staff, traveled widely to meet with local people involved in managing local community libraries. These important local institutions are intended to be the main focus and delivery mechanism for the project. The project addresses adult learning - or "learning for all" - in selected rural areas of Nepal, with an emphasis on using adapted Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The proposal was submitted to Norad in October 2009, and it was accepted for funding in March 2009, with an initial allocation for 1 year.
