240/365: The Pony of Good Fortune
Yesterday was a big day for us. I don't want to give the details here, but this has been a very difficult summer for all of us, especially my older daughter, and it has involved frequent trips up to Saratoga Springs. Yesterday we had our last appointment in Saratoga Springs! We have a lot of work ahead of us, but it will be closer to home and life will feel more normal.
Saratoga is best known for its horse races. Everything in Saratoga is horse-themed. We planned on going to the races before her last appointment, but it turns out the track is closed Tuesdays. Instead we went to the Racing Museum and a bead shop.
My Mom drove us up yesterday. While my daughter and I were at her appointment, this this toy pony magically appeared on my Mom's car's front window. We assume when we were parked earlier someone thought we'd lost it and put it on the car, but it wasn't ours, and we didn't notice it until later.
We decided to look at it as a good omen. It was our last day in Saratoga, our last day of one stage of a very difficult time in our lives, the beginning of a better stage, we hope. We named it The Pony of Good Fortune in hopes that going forward it will symbolize all the good fortune in our lives.
Today my daughter covered the pony with positive affirmations about herself.
