      Looking at this as an interested layman, it seems that you could build this set pretty cheaply. It's mostly off-the-shelf stuff from Home Depot, surplus electronics, and lighting. The expensive part would be those hatches. How did you fabricate those?

      Matt, the hatches would have been made by the props team. I'm not sure what they were made of though. There were several of them made for various sets.

      I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's 'cheap' to built these sets, :) but they did use thing like surplus flight equipment and computers to 'complete' the look. No point in fabricating things when you can use things which already exist.
