The sun that never sets
I decided to have another go at capturing the sunset over The Thames with a couple of London landmarks in the foreground, so I was on Waterloo Bridge in time for the "official" sunset time. I know from experience that the magic in the sky happens a little later, but I also know that my eyes cannot recognise the moment when floodlights and electric light match the residual light in the sky while I'm standing there looking at it. All I can do is to be there beforehand and keep taking pictures until I'm sure that the magic moment is over, and then go home and select the best picture (tonight I called it a day after 45 minutes). I also know from experience that the clockface on Big Ben is awfully bright, so I made sure to snap an extra pic exposed for the clock, and then merged that into the final picture.
Post processing: I tweaked the curves in photoshop a bit to bring out the subtle pinks between the orange and blue, and to brighten the top of the sky a little. Dodged some of the highlights of the floodlights.
