On Friday 18/05/2012 I left Darlington Railway station with my Backpacking Club friend: Lance James en route to Inverness where Neil and Sheila Wallace have agreed to meet us and take us by car to Applecross. Our plan is to make a high-level traverse across Scotland from the west coast to finish at Beauly on the east coast. Although we completed the walk by different routes (I was anxious to finish in five days to spend a weekend with the Wallaces) the crossing took in 92 miles of excellent walking/climbing with 24,400' of ascent. After that Sheila, Neil and I set off for a 20 mile walk and overnight camp in the Loch Orrin reservoir area. Magnificent weather and matching company made this a week to remember and one to recall over many a peaty malt, as yet uncasked!

02/11/2013 I have now deleted the set "After Applecross to Beauley" and added it to this set.
