Summer Solstice

Yesterday was the longest day, or so we were told. 2012 being a leap year June 20th was the summer solstice. I planned a sunset shoot in Niarbyl, in celebration of summer, sun and my newly born son who has been named after sun (in Sanskrit)! As luck would have it I was greeted with overcast sky. But my patience paid off at the last moment when a slice of sun appeared at 21:55 hours. Those golden rays looked brilliant against the dark blue of sky and sea.

    Shot taken with Canon 5D mkII, 17-40 L Canon@24mm, f/16, exposure-30seconds, ISO-100, Sigma 105 mm CPL, Lee 0.9 GND.

Truly spectacular. Very nicely done. (And, the best wishes for your son. Since there are about 30 synonyms for the Sun in Sanskrit that I am aware of, I guess I should narrow them down by those that begin with S.) :-)

Well done for sticking it out - your patience was rewarded. Although I am surprised you could summon up enthusiasm to go out seeking the sun when you had another kind of sun at home that you could just sit and gaze at ;-) Hope he is doing well.
