The Edge of Elegance

    Newer Older

I had such grand ideas for these images, but nothing comes out the way I see it in my mind. Perhaps one day my skill and eye will meet with the images I conjure in my mind's eye, but it feels so far off.

On top of that, the image I was most excited about coming out was ruined when the film jammed in the machine. There might still be hope for it yet, but I'm not holding my breath. I have a better idea what to do next time: white mask if the background is dark, change the angle of the body for more definition to the model's form, and avoid my dang head winding up in the shot.

It was quiet funny though when in the middle of the shoot the sprinklers came on...and my model (best friend Michelle Madden) took off running in her dress and hundred-fifty dollar shoes!

My shoots seldom turn out the way I envision. The pose with a Katana is a great idea for the panoramic camera, love it!

      Elegance, indeed.
      Keep shooting!

This is very striking, nice work! Sometimes I'm thrilled by some unexpected shots and sometimes, like you, my film jams and I have to re-examine my alternate shots. Your story makes this photo. Happy shooting :)
