While I was photographing balloons a few days back, I heard a thud in the weeds nearby. Curious, I went to investigate. A small bird of prey ran from the weeds into the busy street. I rescued the young bird from the street and contacted Wildlife and Fisheries. The bird will be picked up by a Master Falconer at some point next week. He is now eating chicken liver and trapped mice from our hands. We named him Oscar, after the nautical term for man overboard.
