Jerry's green and purple wig is the standard "quick fix" Mardi Gras costume. Never the less, there was something about Jerry, perhaps the way he carried himself, that made me want to photograph him. We talked a bit, and I noted the insignia on his cap. I thanked him for his service and asked for his photograph.
Jerry hesitated a bit at first, and I explained the 100 Strangers project. I told him he could keep his sunglasses on, and Jerry agreed to a portrait. Finally, I asked Jerry what he does for a living now. "I'm a police officer," he replied.
Thank you for your service Jerry, both then and now. Jerry is the 139th stranger in my 100 Strangers project. Find out more about the 100 Strangers project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the flickr group page.
