Pacific Northwest Tribal Mask

A beautiful Native American shamanic mask from a tribe of the Pacific Northwest, from the First Nation's People wing of the fabulous Glenbow Museum.

I have always been keenly interested in the art, traditions, culture, spirits, beliefs and traditions of the First Nation's people, and this beautiful mask contains elements of all those things!

I think it all started from all those childhood summers spent around Vancouver Island and the Pacific Northwest with my grandparents and mothers side of the family, this sort of art and sculptures are everywhere you go in those areas, and they are all truly beautiful!

Actually, now that I think about it, you see First Nation's People art all throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba as well (where my dads side of the family lives, mostly), especially as you go farther North!
