Female Robin In Tree
So, I was out walking Beefy on Monday afternoon (it was a gorgeou spring day, really, it felt more like summer), when I came across this huge tree on a lawn a few blocks from my house, festooned with red berries, and I saw these two robins, male and female, fly out, and start playing, flying around and chasing each other, really graceful high speed aerial acrobatics.
The robins then split up briefly, the female landing on this branch and eating a few berries and the male prowling around underneath the tree (see photo below). They then flew up, met up in the air, and shot off together!
Were they eloping, perhaps?
A springtime shotgun wedding?
P.S. - I am assuming this is a female robin because it is smaller and has a different coloration and pattern in the feathers, especially the head. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me, someone!
