Theravada Buddhist Monk in Meditation

    Newer Older

This was shot outside the defensive gatehouse of Angkor Wat with a backdrop of the moat in the distance. I also used the new technique here that I will be detailing in an upcoming tutorial. This is an HDR shot, which you can read about in my previous tutorial here: stuckincustoms.com/?p=548

      I like it Trey...

Notwithstanding the comments by the_matt, It WOULD be a good landscape & it WOULD be a good portrait. What it DOES do is give the feeling of being there! The composition is good in my book, as I know that these places always have monks looking on/meditating/praying. Therefore this shot has more life that a landscape from that part of the world.
Anyway, the shots please you. That is why you do it, right?

Awesome shot. I really like the simplicity! I think it's well-composed. the monk helps fill the frame.

      Intriguing converging and opposing reflections.
Moves the eye into the photograph..
Monk seems more distracted then meditative..
Which fits the mood of the background.
