The Veins of Bangkok

    Newer Older

If you want to see how I made this (and how you can too!), visit my HDR Tutorial. I hope it gives you some new tricks!

I love getting up to the highest point in cities to get a nice perspective. I'm afraid I have forgotten the name of this place in Bangkok, but it's the tallest building there. I have a good memory; it just doesn't last very long.

The top of many tall buildings have bars or restaurants where you can take photos. No one ever really seems to mind. One BIG problem though is the lights inside the bar. They bounce off the windows and create an awful reflection. I usually contact someone that works there and give them a tip to turn off all the lights for 5 minutes while I take the photo. I am sure to set everything up first, so I can get to snapping... especially since as soon as the lights go off, a mild amount of panic ensues from the patrons.

      Hi
I'm a fan of Your work since I know something about hdr-work and I read a few of Your tutorials and attemped to do it like You. Thank You so very much for helping us getting an hdr-artist, too sometimes.
I think this picture is one of Your older pictures wich are a little bit more psychedelic overdone? For me hdr have to be something special and I casually like it to make this pictures more look like a painting. My hdr work is at the beginning and I really have to learn more about using photoshop to go forward.
      - I've met this place to and I was very angry that the outside view platform always turned around, no chance to get a well exposed night picture and especially impossible to make a hdr. I only made single pictures out of the window of the roof top bar and I have the same mirroring problem like You. I laid the camera of the windowframe and capped it with cloth.
Here is my softer and sadly a little bit overexposed hdr version of this place:
      Junction Bangkok - Thailand
If You write me a little command what You think a about it You make me a big big pleasure.
I'm looking forward to seeing Your new pictures.
      Greetings
      fan Benjamin

those are nice photos. But despite the praises i gotta say that those are photos are an abuse of HDR. a good HDR is like a devil, people should never know it. and I can tell from a mile its an HDR without anyone telling. any way still good photos. ciao

You seem to have captured this from Bayioke Sky. Amazing shot, Trey! And so aptly named!
I was impressed by its giant shadow by day:
