After I left the Washington Monument, I took a long walk around the tidal basin to see the Jefferson Memorial then went around to the FDR Monument. The latter was really cool and I had never seen it before. It was a series of waterfalls over granite and a bunch of FDR’s quotes etched into the walls, all of which look rather Marxist in retrospect (Freedom from want… etc.).
These waterfalls are part of the FDR Memorial in Washington D.C. This surreal scene was captured after midnight on a warm spring night, but the falls kept this area at a cool 60 degrees. There was no one around except for a well-dressed man that was not wearing pants, wading through the base of the waterfalls scooping up quarters with his feet. When he saw me set up the tripod, he scurried away, scattering clattering coins right and left on the granite.
Looks best: Large on Black
