699 and can this really be a Dennis Trident?

Driving through the woodland campus of Heriot Watt University this Dennis Trident, Plaxton President number 699 (SN04 AET) looks terrific in the winter sunshine.

There surely can be little doubt that these vehicles are quite transformed in Lothian's Classic livery and how splendid they now look. The 25 is one of Lothian's flagship services working between Riccarton here, West of the city of Edinburgh, and Restalrig, a little east of Meadowbank stadium at Craigentinny.

This bus will terminate just a few yards away from here and then be almost full with staff and students returning back into town.

I was really lucky to get these photos of 699 as I was in town travelling on Dennis Dart 58. I nipped off that in George Street and wondered how I'd then catch this 25 now going in the opposite direction. There was only one thing for it: TAXI! The driver asked where I wanted to go and I said that I didn't know! We eventually got to down the road here at Riccarton and I could see 699 coming along behind. Don't even ask what the bill for the taxi came to!
