842 in the snow
Volvo B9TL, Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini, number 842 (SN57 DDL) gingerly climbs a snowy Mound on Monday the 29th of November 2010.
Once upon a time Edinburgh's Mound boasted an electric blanket underneath the road surface to assist in the melting of snow and ice, although many decades have come and gone since conditions were as exciting as this in the city centre. Sadly the electric device no longer works. I wonder why?
Looking back at this photograph I recall how fantastic it felt being out in all this wildness. Despite the cold many people were enjoying having an unexpected day off work or school, such was the severity of the weather - nobody thought it would go on for the following month in conditions that would be even worse than this a week later.
