356 and Edinburgh Castle
With the herbaceous borders welcoming visitors to the Capital new Gemini B9, number 356 ascends the Mound with Edinburgh Castle proudly towering over the great city.
On this day I was asked a familiar question by a tourist:
"Excuse me Sir can you tell me which bus will take me to the Castle"?
This is always so amusing to us locals as of course the answer is quite simple.....
"There isn't one - you walk to the Castle (said in a firm manner too)!
A strident pointing of the finger in the direction of the Castle usually creates a certain embarrassment.
In August, Edinburgh tends to lose its bourgeois quaintness as the regular population of around 600,000 doubles, bringing in millions of pounds of revenue to the city. It's nice in September when we get it back again!
