Raleigh International _ Headbadge
The unpainted stamped brass badge on the left was the one which I recently removed from this 1971 International. It had been stripped of it's original black and red enamel details by a previous owner (apparently, removed right along the rest of the paint on the frameset prior to an earlier re-paint).
Against a suitably contrasting color of frame enamel, the simple embossed polished brass badge could look very attractive if left entirely unpainted. So, I may even use it once again just as it was found after re-finishing this frameset.
The badge on the right is a correct and original replacement. Because so very many Raleigh bikes were once imported to the US, replacement badges are still abundant, are often found on eBay, and they are usually quite inexpensive. Of course, because of the raised features stamped into the surface. it would also be fairly easy to re-enamel a compromised headbadge if you have a small brush, a steady hand and considerable patience.
