Thanksgiving 1953

In case anyone's wondering, I voted for Obama.

This is from Thanksgiving Day 1953. Our family celebrated Thanksgiving in the Episcopal High School's dining room with the students and other faculty members and their families every year. The kitchen would provide one turkey for each table of 14 people; in our case the math came to our family plus 8 students. My dad, as head of the table, sliced turkey for everyone. We never had Thanksgiving at home until many years after Daddy's death.

This photo appeared on the dedication page of the school's 1954 yearbook WHISPERS, seen also in this scan of the whole page.

John Trask, one of Daddy's students from Beaufort, SC, took this and a picture of me at the same Thanksgiving dinner.
