Bijapur might not be as consensually beautiful as Hampi or Badami. An old muslim city lost in the Karnataka's Northeast, it looks at first like nothing but a dusty noisy ugly congregation of sad buildings, surrounded by the skeleton of a medieval wall. Nonetheless, further probing reveals something more about Bijapur. Under the cement of the modern walls lays - dormant - the remains of a glorious muslim town : crooked doors, wild sculptures, savage arabic calligraphies. Though harsh on the eye as first, untamed Bijapur is packed of hidden and raw beauties.
