i think your comment is more about the awkward than the privacy, but when i have this hammer that makes guerilla fixes to issues that are impractical/low-priority/dreadfully-clunky for apple to fix...
i believe it would be possible to write an extension for jailbroken ios that would provide an option to filter out geo exif information in photos provided to apps. sneaky apps could probably bypass that filter and grab normal photos when given permission, but it would mean that benign/oblivious/well-meaning apps wouldn't have a chance to naively/inadvertently save/display coordinates, etc.
