Lately I've been considering the value of time out from busy lifestyles. It seems these days that if there's "free" time, we'll use it, fill it with something that feels oh-so-important. The art of relaxing has been lost or at least it appears that way. I'm generally pretty laid back and never reach my potential in anything I do, mostly because I don't try hard enough. I always gave everything 80 per cent effort, never 100. That could be called laziness, it probably is, but life passes us by too quickly to get caught up in the "must do" or "can't wait" notion of non-stop living.
So the next time you sit still for longer than 5 minutes and allow your body to breathe properly and you find yourself hyperventilating, pause. It's your body telling you to slow down. However important your list of things to do is, do one of them tomorrow instead of today. Go on, indulge, relax...take time out.
