Hats galore. The micro climate in Saigon is's hot and humid. Everyone protects her/himself from the sun. The Vietnamese urbanites never needed the prodding of UV/skin cancer advocates. Especially Vietnamese women do not like to be tanned. Which is also why you see many women wearing elaborate 'chador' type of face masks and arm length gloves to keep the pollution at bay and the skin fair. A dark skin is associated with the 'country side' and thus with low socio-economic status. Tan Dinh Market, Hai Ba Trung Street, downtown Saigon
