Eurasian Lynx Portrait
Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx) in the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, Syracuse, New York. The Nikon 80-400VR lens I was using focused out the fencing between me and the lynx quite nicely.
Eurasian lynx are found in areas of Asia, Europe and the former USSR. They inhabit old growth deciduous forests and mixed woodlands. They are also found in mountainous areas above the tree line in central Asia and the entire Tibetan plateau.
Fun fact: The name Lynx comes from the Greek word “to shine,” and may be in reference to the reflective ability of the cat’s eyes. (source: Rosamond Gifford Zoo website)
