Robert Joseph Coles grave

    Newer Older

We wanted something natural, like the stones Dad used to pick up at the end of a long hike and skip across the lake. We got something close, but the cemetery required the rectangular concrete base. I typeset the text, excerpted from a speech given by one of his ward members (parishioners), with input from the family.

I'm pretty proud that it's a little bit different from your average gravestone, and I think he'd like it, though he might argue that he isn't worth all the fuss. Well, he is.

For that to be said of anyone is an achievement worthy of humanity's resonance.

So, so nice. And despite the fuss, I'm sure your father is honored to have such a wonderful family.

A very handsome and thoughtful representation of your dad, Stewf. I get a sense of him through you.

Thanks for sharing this. Well done on all fronts. Your having done so speaks to and is a further reflection of his life well lived. Very likely the only tombstone I have ever seen with generous letterspaced small caps. and special characters. Lovely as I would anticipate from you.

      Thanks, everyone!

Barry - Kind of you to say, though many of those that were carved by hand were made with similar considerations. Unfortunately, those are becoming less common.

You can tell a lot of thought went into this. It's perfect.
