Coptek by David Quay
David Quay has drawn all sorts of stuff, from text type (Quay Sans), and industrial gothics (Robotik/Teknik/Mekanik), to frilly faces (Marguerita). But his talent is most evident in his lively scripts. I love the way Coptek is both angular and flowing. It feels nostalgic without shouting "retro".
As seen on QBN Typecase, a feature I created in 2005 for trendy design portal Newstoday. I am no longer editor of the column, but it was a good gig while it lasted. It entailed two of my favorite jobs: designing specimens, and pushing fonts on the youths.
