Neuzeit-Buch and Neuzeit-Buch S
Specimens from D. Stempel AG’s Gesamptprobe der Lieferbaren Schriften, Feb 1974.
I am such a fan of Neuzeit S I figured I better learn more about it. Turns out most of the online sources have very little — and often erroneous — backgroud info. (No one but Hans Reichardt mentions Arthur Ritzel as the designer, for instance.)
So I cobbled together the best sources I could find, along with this specimen from a book I just acquired from LarsSchwarz, to write as accurate a bio as I could produce. See it on Fonts In Use. Corrections and additions welcome.
Those like me who love Neuzeit S but find the 2-style digital version lacking should be pleased with Christian Schwartz’s Graphik. Still, I think contemporary type designers can continue to glean from these originals.
