Simon - yellow door

    Newer Older

Inspired to a large extent by a set of photographs taken by Nick Turpin. I've been wanting to try using a focussed beam of light with the ambient just dropped down slightly for ages.

    Strobist info: 1 x 580ex at 1/4 power through a 1/8 honl grid.

Set up here. No real post processing here - just a bit of contrast added.

Great result with that beam. I like the brick wall, wonder what it would look like with a whole yellow wall.
Yes that was stuffed and the eyes actually odd coloured marbles!

I like the beam effect mixed with the ambient, it gives a natural feel of sunlight peeping through.

Agreed. I have a few shots where I dropped the ambient down further and they look a odd (You are left wondering why the guy has a spot light shining on him) but this works reasonably well.
