Phoenix Leaping

What do you see in these clouds? Demon head, fancy purple big-headed bird, and a skeleton fish?

Matt Molloy has made many fascinating images using the Advanced Stacker PLUS to stack daylight (sunset) cloud movements. He calls them "TimeStacks". Here in California, we seldom get ideal conditions for timestacks because we often have NO clouds, or ALL clouds.

However in the desert and around mountains, the interplay of clouds and sky is quite different. I was wandering around Palm Springs watching these clouds pouring over the mountain range and rapidly dissipating. Meanwhile the sun was setting and bringing color to those high clouds, while the low clouds in shadow grew a little ominous.

These are the next 20 photos.

See the prior photo for comparison. Here I used a brighter foreground shot.
