Milky Skyline [5_006550]
It was a bit of a shock - in a good way, to be able to make out this section of the Milky Way near the constellation Sagitarius. The orange glow at the bottom and the left are some low clouds lit by the SF Bay Area communities just left (East) in this photo. This view is almost due south along Skyline Blvd (35) about 4 miles down from Alice's Restaurant (yep, the biker bar in Woodside is named after Alice's Restaurant, where as Arlo Guthrie croons "You can get anything you want" - I'll have a sky full of stars, thank you).
This view is from adjacent to one of the two entrances to Windy Hill Open Space Preserve.
The photo has been noise reduced, and contrast enhanced.
It is still a bit noisy which is apparent in the larger size. Still, it is not bad for 3200 ISO!
I wish I had shot more than a few frames of this... the westward motion of the heavens was in marked contrast to the eastward drift of the clouds. Cool effect had I shot enough frames to make a timelapse.
