Star Trail over Banner Peak 120656
This is a single 2 hour, 15 minute exposure from just after midnight. At least that is what the timer was set for. The camera claims it was a 26 minute exposure and I guess that is probably more correct. This view is from the south shore of Garnet Lake in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, south east of Yosemite National Park and about 8 miles North of the town of Mammoth, California.
The most spectacular Milky Way I have seen was visible this night as the sky was crystal clear. An added bonus: some early arrivers of the Perseid Meteor shower (peaks August 12) produced spectacularly bright and fast meteors.
I have reprocessed this image. See the new improved version.
