Ring of fire

A deliberately very underexposed photo of a machine used to cut the top off a blown glass form to make a bowl.

The blown form is clamped in upside-down and lowered spinning into this ring of fire, which melts the glass in a circle, basically cutting the bottom off the (upside-down) form, leaving just the bowl part hanging in the machine. It's an interesting process to watch! More info at Glasi Hergiswil

The Fire Inside is another photo of the same glassmakers.
