Project 1 - Photo 16 of 19

    Newer Older

For our first project in my FINA 2135 course titled "Design in Contemporary Art," as taught by Vancouver artist Paulo Majano, we had to shoot "...15 photographs of the world around (us), looking for distinct, clear design and composition elements to be used as a source to create abstract compositions using Adobe Illustrator." The aim of the project was to "...sensitize the eye to the world as a source of inspiration for design."

In taking the photographs, we had to consider a number of elements including "...shape, the use of negative space to create shape, repeating patterns, clear colour forms, arrangement and the use of unusual angles, closeups or exaggerated perspectives."

This photograph was also featured in the SURREYALISTS FRAMED ART SALE from March 25 - 28, 2013 as hung in the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Coast Capital Library Arbutus Art Gallery.
