Mountains and Salt Marsh
Digging back through the archives (yes I know--I need to get out and start taking pictures!), I came across this shot that I took while I was hiking in the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve last February with Ed and Paul Roper. It was photographed a little bit earlier and zoomed in more than the "Of Earthquakes and Volcanoes" shot that I posted three months ago. In this view, a portion of Mare Island's Salt Marsh is in the foreground with the San Pablo Bay and the silhouette of Mount Tamalpais on the distant shore.
We arrived a couple hours before sunset and parked at the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve Visitor's Center. There, we met Myrna Hayes, who is the Preserve Manager. She is a wonderful treasure trove of historical information regarding the island and a most gracious host. We appreciated her willingness to allow us to stay and take pictures of the sunset that evening!
