Hitchcock Lakes, Sequoia National Park

Looking down from about 14,000' at Mt. Hitchcock and Hitchcock Lakes, southwest of Mt. Whitney summit.

 

At this altitude the thin air will kick your ass if you're not properly acclimated. I've seen folks stumbling, crying, disoriented, hugging rocks, puking...time to retreat!

 

Favorite scene up here, a couple years ago was a guy dressed in some weird medieval robes, with an eight foot staff, muttering. Don't know if he was Moses or Gandalf. I think he summited.
