December 26th 2008 - How I Did It
Today I spent most of the morning watching Seinfeld season 9. Later I went to Books A Million to spend a gift card on a photography book. Later we watched some of Dexter Season 1.
I've been thinking for a while about doing a 365 book for this past year. But I didn't really think anyone was interested in buying that sort of thing. So I asked earlier this year for ideas on what someone might actually want to pay for. Flickr user Hyperbolic Pants Explosion suggested that I do a book based on how I lit or processed select photos. I thought that was a great idea, but before I put a lot of time into such a project, I got to know whether it would be worth the time. Is anyone really interested in such a book? If so, what photos would you like to see in it? Let me know.
Strobist info: both photos were lit with an Alien Bees B800 through a large softbox at camera right and a Canon 430ex through a grid spot at camera left rear.
I took both photos at the same time. Once with a book in front of my face and another without the book. I then Photoshopped them together by masking the book out in the color photo and then adding the shaddows on a separate layer with a soft opaque brush.
