What does this mean? It means I wanted to play with light and white balance ;-).
First, I got the podcast done this afternoon. After having to figure out a bunch of technical challenges, I think it worked out quite nicely.
Also, I'm shipping some prints off tomorrow and if you'd like to own some of my work, all you have to do is flickr mail me with the link to the print that you want and I'll get back to you about the price. The proceeds will be going towards some of my recent vet bills and it's a good trade I think ;-).
So... before I get to the strobist info, I just want to point out what some of it means. Basically, if you set your white balance to incandescent/tungsten (the little lightbulb icon), your strobes will turn a bluish color. So what I wanted to do was to have my face a little less of a bluish color (to mimic the lightbulb I was holding). So I gelled the flash on my face with a CTO (color temperture orange) gel which matches my tungsten white balance setting. So everything turned a bluish color (highlights and background) while my face was a wee bit mor true... not all the way mind you.. but it's definitely less so.
Strobist info: Alien Bees B800 Through a large softbox above camera, two SP Studios Strobes at the left and right behind subject and a Canon 430ex below subject pointed at face and both snooted and gelled with a CTO.
