Trumpcare Protest At The U.S. Capitol 4

Washington DC, the evening of July 27, 2017. Around 250 healthcare justice activists and supporters were mobilized online on just two hours notice to a rally with speeches on the U.S. Capitol grounds to protest the impending Senate vote to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Inside, Trump's Republicans were desperately plotting and horse trading to conclude a deal to steal healthcare from tens of millions of Americans and give the very richest in our society a huge tax cut. Thumbs up to Move On, the other sponsoring organizations and all of the sensible good folks who showed up when it mattered. We fight on. Next up single-payer Medicare for all.

Postscript. Around 1:30 AM Thursday morning ACA repeal failed by a vote of 49-51. Republicans John McCain, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski joined with all of the Senate Democrats to defeat the measure. Obamacare remains the law of the land.
