Justice Or Else 3
Washington DC, The National Mall, October 10, 2015. A relatively* diverse crowd of over four hundred thousand gathered here today for a rally with speeches in commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the Million Man March. By any measure this event was a stunning success, an affirmation that the unfinished work of the American civil rights movement is ongoing, reenergized by the young activists of the Black Lives Matter movement. Louis Farrakhan's keynote speech, characteristically long and rambling, was surprisingly conciliatory and inclusive in tone.
*The 1995 Million Man March invited the participation of men of color. All were welcomed at the 2015 Justice Or Else event. As a veteran of hundreds of demonstrations over the past fifty years I can attest that this was an exceedingly well mannered and positive gathering.
