"Glimpsed before on my site, here is the first full picture of one of my most cherished memories and works of art : commissioned in 1999 by The Royal Collection, I painted this view of Buckingham Palace, London residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, from the edge of Green Park, east of the Palace.

The large oil painting, uniquely created on a square canvas ( at the request of the Palace, to accommodate the subsequent plans of advertisement) was reproduced on London Underground advertisements promoting the Summer Opening of the State Apartments in 1999 & 2000.

Painted from early in the morning through to the evening, I managed to capture crowds gathering around the railings and the parading soldiers, taking part in the daily Changing The Guard Ceremony, on the Palace forecourt.

The original painting now hangs inside Buckingham Palace."

In 2000 Stephen B Whatley was commissioned to undertake his most major Royal commission: 30 paintings interpreting vividly the history of Her Majesty's Tower of London. The entire series of paintings were reproduced on steel vitreous enamel panels in 2001 to form a permanent public walkway to the Tower from Tower Hill Station.
