A tribute to all the pharmacists
A tribute to all the pharmacists who have been undeservingly been pushed aside and underappreciated for all the work they've done.
Throughout the pandemic, pharmacists have been targeted by some news outlets with accusations of price gouging, due to limiting drug refills to only a month in order to prevent drug shortages. They have periodically been miscategorized as non-healthcare workers. However, pharmacists are healthcare workers and medical experts in drug therapy. They consistently work closely with physicians to help guide medication therapy to improve patient outcomes.
Unlike, walk-in clinics and elective procedures/clinics that have been closed or canceled, pharmacists are still maintaining their pharmacies open to help afflicted patients. For most, many have lost sight of the critical role pharmacists play in our healthcare system and have treated them as simply another worker at a convenience store. However, they are medical professionals and one of the most accessible healthcare providers in the community.
Next time you see your local pharmacist, thank them for being available during this crisis
