Karen Nordsø Lundberg
After looking at all the art around the gallery, at the 2008 Art Promenade I decided to find a stranger among the artists. Meet Karen. One of 70 artists working here. She's been around since the start 21 years ago. Originally from Jylland in Denmark she now lives in one of the apartments at the rebuilt Church School (destroyed in a fire a few years ago), next to the gallery. We first met outside, where people were listening to a didgeridoo player, dancing and drinking coffee on the lawn in front of the gallery. I talked to some of her colleagues and her husband (another artist), who told me to pick Karen for my photo. As we talked I realised that a couple of the artists had seen some of my flickr photos from previous Art Promenades, which was nice! The group have plans to buy the Church School where they now rent their apartments. Karen invited me into her work area in the gallery where I recognised a few paintings I had seen two years ago. Her contribution this year is called Floating Landscape. This is my 46th photo for the 100 Strangers project. You can see the rest of my strangers in my Set.
