The Lone Cypress, Pebble Beach (17-mile drive)

    Newer Older

This is the Lone Cypress which has become the trademarked symbol of the Pebble Beach Company. Held up by guy wires these days (sadly). Taken with my large format camera - I took a whole series of these over the course of about 1.5 hrs as the sun set changing the colors. This is nearly the last one in the series and to keep the proper exposure, I lost the pines in the foreground into the darkness. Though I do feel that the warm brown sun on the cypresses to the left makes up for this somewhat.

I know it's derivative but I'm still learning how to use the camera and this seemed like a photogenic topic.

      there's nothing wrong with that.
you need to learn somehow and you might as well pick the pretty subjects.
It's a pretty photo. I like the colours in the sky

I just got a crown graphic and this picture of yours is an inspiration. If you crop the dark trees below and the plain blue sky above, that would make a very nice panorama shot.

Yep.. it was a Crown Graphic that I restored that I used for this. Must get back to using it.
