Land Day has been commemorated annually since 1976 as a result of
Israel's plans to expropriate thousands of dunams of Palestinian land
under the guise of "security and settlement purposes". A
general strike and marches were organised across Palestine, during
which the Israeli army murdered six Palestinians, injured hundreds and
arrested hundreds more.
Since then, every year on 30th March, Palestinians and their supporters across the world mark this day in commemoration of those who died and highlight the continuing theft of land by Israel.
