Babies, babies, babies!
Throughout the centuries, some things do not change – such as the miracle of each baby born into the world, and the desire to record this momentous event for posterity.

Due to digital technology, 21st century babies are often photographed thousands of times.

The images in this set are from a time when there was perhaps only one precious photo ever taken of an infant. It is evident, however, that the old-fashioned babies in these photos were an enormous source of pleasure and pride to their families.

This set was curated by Jenny Cossins, a librarian working in the Public Library Development area of the State Library of Queensland.
